What to do in Faenza

Faenza is a town known internationally for its artistic ceramics, much of which is housed in a beautiful and interesting museum, the “MIC“. This charming city offers its visitors several reasons to stay: they can choose between art, culture, tradition, sports, and health. Regarding art and culture, one can visit Palazzo Milzetti, a masterpiece of the Neoclassical period; the Masini Theatre, where premiere performances are held; and the Carlo Zauli Museum, dedicated to the famous ceramicist, in addition to the many ceramic workshops located throughout the city. Every two years, an event called Argillà takes place, attracting prominent artists of various nationalities to exhibit their works in the streets of the city center.

In terms of tradition, the Manfreda city offers the spectacle of the Palio del Niballo, which reenacts an ancient challenge between the knights of the city’s five districts, framed by a beautiful parade in medieval costume.

Faenza offers important events for sports enthusiasts, such as the ultra-marathon known as the 100 km del Passatore, which starts from Piazza della Signoria in Florence and finishes at Piazza del Popolo in Faenza. For cycling lovers, there is the Gran Fondo Davide Cassani, not to mention the Greco-Roman wrestling matches at the Lucchesi gym, where Olympic champion Vincenzo Maenza used to train. Faenza is also home to the headquarters of the Formula 1 Racing Bulls team (formerly Alpha Tauri and Toro Rosso).

A few kilometers from Faenza, nestled in the Tuscan-Romagna hills, there are beautiful medieval villages offering thermal services, such as Brisighella, Riolo Terme, and Castrocaro Terme. Ravenna, with its many Byzantine monuments, is just 35 km away. Finally, for the joy and entertainment of adults and children, you can head to Mirabilandia, the amusement park with the most visitors in Europe.
